Thank you for booking my doctors appointments. Glad you could find the number of the travel doctor. I have my health card with me. I will email Nicole too, I wonder if she is back from Portugal yet.
Could you send me the following addresses: Chris and Gill David and Carolyn Rommie Grandpa
Wow, I am surprised that the package got there so quick. It must be the package I sent from China. The one from Vietnam must still be on its way. I really wanted to get those shoes. They are the shoes used by the women with bound/broken feet before that archaic practice became illegal. I think they are an interesting symbol of how oppressed women in China were. Now I see women working road construction along with the men and there seems to be much more equality. There are some software CDs in the package including Windows2000 professional in case you are interested. But I have no idea how good the CD is.
Did you want to get the film developed or do you want to wait until I get home? They are every second roll from Vietnam and Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. I selected every second roll so that if either pile was lost or damaged then at least I would not lose all the photos from a country. I was going to contact a few good photo developing shops when I got back to negotiate a special price for all my films. I don't really trust the grocery store places after hearing that sometimes the machines break down and they just have to yank out the negatives which are in the machine and ruin them. Also they don't look at each print individually. I will pay for all development when I get home.
The lake was really beautiful because it was surrounded by 5000m snow covered mountains in almost all directions. We stayed in tents on a peninsula and there were some amazing cliffs that we climbed and had great views. It was really cold the first night, but we were given lots of blankets and were ok. Except on the first night we woke up to find a goat inside the tent. We kicked it out and put a rock on the door flap and then woke up in the morning to find the goat inside again and a large pile of droppings so it must have been there a while.
David has booked a flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong on July 6th. I wanted at least one day to recover from the first flight before taking the second.
So my plans now are:
17 Fly to Chengdu
18 Bus to Songpan
19 - 22 Horse Trekking near Songpan
23 Bus to Chengdu and then bus to Chong Qing
24,25 Yangtzee cruise
26 Fly from Wuhan to Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur
27 - 4 Beach or Scuba trip (Ko Tau or Phuket)
5 Bangkok
6 Fly to Hong Kong
7 Fly home
My flight arrives at 1:11 AM on July 8th. I know it is a horrible time, but I would love to be picked up.
I am looking forward to some relaxing beach time and to do some scuba diving again, I might even skip the Yangtzee cruise, but I can decide that after horse trekking. JJ and Heidi are also doing the horse trekking and I am glad we will be staying together a bit longer.
Lots of loveYour glad-to-be-coming-home
